Focus!

You don't really realize where the 'holes' are in your wardrobe until you're dressing for a specific occasion.

Last night I was getting ready for a casual-upscale dinner and completely drew a blank. It was one of those stare-into-the-closet-as-if-something-is-going-to-appear nights. Little black dress? Too dressy. Jeans and flats? Too casual. Platform heels? Too Friday night at the club. I settled on an outfit that I have worn to work a few times. I felt put together but it didn't feel...special.

So I decided that instead of willy-nilly shopping (aka buying whatever looks cute), I need to concentrate more on having a well-rounded wardrobe that is versatile and functional. I want pieces that are special and make me feel great when I'm wearing them.

So far my list includes:
  1. Things to wear to a nice dinner...not too nice though
  2. Baby shower outfit (lots of those lately!)
  3. Going out skirts
  4. Summer weekend clothes
  5. Pants that aren't jeans!
What are your wardrobe 'holes' and do you fill those first or continue to shop willy-nilly?
