A shopping fanatic's worst enemy is the budget. As my husband and I are fervently saving for our first home, sometimes my budget constraints get in the way of my need to acquire beautiful things. Fortunately, fashion works so quickly now that if you fall in love with something that's out of your price range, you can usually find a similar style at a friendlier price.
So lately I've been coveting J Crew's fabulous and edgy shoes, as well as their classic styles. For me, $118 is not within my budget for something like espadrilles. So I hunt around for something similar that fits in with my financial abilities.
Here are some of my sub-ins for my favorites from J Crew:
These gladiator sandals retail for $138 but similar styles (with an open heel) in bright colors can be found by Jeffrey Campbell and Victoria's Secret for $73 and $30 respectively.
The Julienne heels work with a lot of different looks but retail for $198. Try Aldo's Kunert leather sandal for only $70.
Chic black flat sandals are a great staple for any wardrobe but at $135 I'd pass them by. Check out this pair for only $19!
I'm a big fan of the $165 Cleo Platforms but I'm also a fan of these green basketweave platforms by Ellen Tracy. At DSW for $75. ***Edited to add this beauty by Nine West, which is currently 30% off of $69!
